During a candid Instagram interview with The School of Hard Knockz, the Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown opened up about the mental and emotional challenges that come with life as a professional athlete, emphasizing the role his faith has played in helping him cope.

As noted by Meadow Barrow of MassLive, Brown discussed how he’s leaned on spiritual grounding to navigate the weight of public scrutiny, performance pressure, and personal struggles throughout his career.

“I’ve dealt with anxiety, even depression,” the player revealed. “I’ve been to some very dark places, but I feel like those dark places have allowed my light to shine.”

Brown has played 9 seasons for the Celtics. He has averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 603 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 4 All-Star games. He has won 1 Finals MVP award and 1 NBA championship.
