NBC Sports is strengthening its NBA broadcast lineup for the upcoming 2025–26 season by bringing in another basketball legend. In a press release, the network announced that Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady has officially joined its NBA coverage team as a studio analyst.

McGrady, a former NBA superstar renowned for his scoring prowess and versatility, earned seven straight All-Star selections from 2001 through 2007 and was the league’s scoring champion twice during that stretch.

Since retiring from professional basketball, McGrady has gained notable experience in sports media, having previously worked as a commentator and analyst for both ESPN and TNT Sports.

At NBC, McGrady will be joining a studio crew that already features a star-studded cast, including his cousin and fellow Hall of Famer Vince Carter, as well as ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony.

Studio coverage will be anchored by hosts Maria Taylor and Ahmed Fareed, while NBA icon Michael Jordan is slated to make special contributions to the network’s programming.

In a statement, NBC Sports executive producer Sam Flood expressed his enthusiasm about McGrady’s addition: “Tracy has excelled at the highest levels, both as a player and in broadcasting. He brings a sharp, insightful perspective to the game, and we believe that his chemistry with Vince, Carmelo, or both will elevate our studio discussions and deepen fans’ understanding of the game.”

McGrady’s hiring marks the second significant talent acquisition by NBC Sports in recent days.

Just last Thursday, the network unveiled a wave of new broadcast team members, including former NBA players Derek Fisher, Austin Rivers, Brad Daugherty, Robbie Hummel, and Brian Scalabrine, who will serve as game analysts throughout the season.
