Tracy McGrady believes LeBron James joining Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors would create one of the most memorable endings to an NBA career if James is entering his final season.

Speaking about James’ future, McGrady encouraged the four-time NBA champion to embrace the opportunity to play alongside Curry, highlighting the global attention a partnership between two of the league’s biggest stars would generate.

“Bro, you talking about a rockstar-studded team and season everywhere they go. Steph Curry, LeBron James, my guy, you talk to end your career with Steph Curry,” McGrady said. “I would just love to see that on his way out.”

McGrady added that James has already played with numerous elite players throughout his career but believes a final run with Curry would be a unique chapter.

“I know LeBron has played with a lot of greats. I would just love to see that on his way out. If this is his last season, I would love to see Bron with Steph Curry and just see the fandom and everything that comes with that.”

The Warriors remain one of the teams actively pursuing James despite speculation that the Cavaliers, Heat and other Eastern Conference contenders may be stronger possibilities. NBA insider Jake Fischer recently said Golden State remains heavily involved in the sweepstakes.

“I do think the Warriors are still as involved as any team,” Fischer said. “As much as the reunion with Cleveland and Miami would be storybook, this new all star team, traveling Team USA kind of circus, high entertainment value thing that would exist in Golden State is something that is still very much on the table.”

A James-Curry partnership would reunite two of the most accomplished players of their generation. James and Curry have faced each other in four NBA Finals, while also sharing the court as teammates during multiple international competitions, including the United States’ gold medal run at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Golden State’s interest comes after a difficult 2025-26 season in which the Warriors finished 37-45 and missed the playoffs. The franchise entered the offseason focused on reshaping the roster around Curry, selecting forward Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and adding guard Lajae Jones at No. 54.

Despite turning 41 years old, James remained one of the league’s most productive players last season. He averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 60 games while helping the Los Angeles Lakers finish 53-29 and win the Pacific Division.

The Lakers’ season ended with a 4-0 Western Conference semifinals loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, opening the door for James to consider his next move after eight seasons in Los Angeles.

Cleveland remains a major storyline because of James’ history with the franchise. The Cavaliers went 52-30 during the regular season and reached the Eastern Conference finals before being swept by the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks.

Miami has also emerged as a contender after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from Milwaukee, while Philadelphia strengthened its roster by adding Jaylen Brown to a core featuring Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

James’ decision remains unresolved, with ESPN’s Brian Windhorst warning that reports surrounding his future remain difficult to evaluate.

“I am being very, very cautious,” Windhorst said. “Right now, it’s too scattered.”

Whether James chooses a storybook return to Cleveland, another Eastern Conference contender or a final superstar pairing with Curry, his next destination remains one of the NBA’s biggest offseason decisions.
