Veteran forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is openly campaigning for another shot in the NBA, turning to social media to pitch his case for a training camp opportunity.
On Monday morning, the 29-year-old addressed the league directly via X, writing, “Good morning @NBA, I was wondering if any teams had a training camp spot for a kind chap like myself.”
The message continued in a lighthearted but pointed tone: “I’m like a SUV got a lot of travel miles but for the long haul (long season) you can count on me. I also keep good air flow amongst the team. I also can guard just about anyone.”
Hollis-Jefferson last played in the NBA during the 2020–21 season with the Portland Trail Blazers, appearing in 11 games.
Since then, he’s built a successful international résumé, including three championships and three Best Import honors in the Philippine Basketball Association with TNT Tropang Giga.
Most recently, he suited up for Al Riyadi in Lebanon after stints in Turkey, Puerto Rico, and South Korea.
The former Arizona standout was selected 23rd overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2015 NBA Draft before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, where he played four seasons.
Across 305 regular-season NBA games, Hollis-Jefferson averaged 9.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while making 154 starts.
Known primarily for his defense and hustle, he was a key piece on Brooklyn’s playoff team in 2019, scoring 13.3 points per game during that series.
Training camp invites are typically low-risk for front offices, and Hollis-Jefferson’s defensive pedigree and leadership could appeal to a team in need of veteran depth on the wing.
