The Houston Rockets have signed free agent guard JD Davison, according to a report from Chris Haynes.
Davison, who was named the 2024–25 NBA G League MVP earlier this year, joins Houston after spending three seasons with the Boston Celtics organization.
The 22-year-old averaged 25.6 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds across 45 games with the Maine Celtics, earning league-wide recognition for his performance.
Davison also recorded 13 double-doubles and one triple-double during the G League campaign.
Boston converted his two-way deal into a standard contract on April 12, shortly after his MVP announcement, but the team recently waived him.
In his NBA tenure, Davison played in 36 total games across three seasons with limited minutes, averaging 1.9 points and 0.9 assists in 5.5 minutes per game.
He was part of the Celtics roster that won the 2024 NBA championship, though his on-court contributions in the playoffs were minimal.
Selected 53rd overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Davison consistently showed growth in the G League, increasing his scoring average each season with Maine.
His shooting efficiency improved as well, hitting 48.1% from the field and 33.2% from three-point range in 2024–25.
