Despite the Orlando Magic finishing without a win in their Summer League games, the team remains optimistic about the progress and potential shown by several young players.

According to Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel, the performances of rookies Jase Richardson and Noah Penda, along with second-year guard Tristan Da Silva, have been particularly encouraging.

Jase Richardson, who was selected in the first round out of Michigan State, took on the role of Orlando’s primary ball-handler throughout the Summer League.

He made a strong impression by averaging 16.5 points and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 50% from beyond the arc.

Head coach Ameer Bahhur praised Richardson’s composure and leadership against challenging competition, saying, “He played two really tough, physical teams and he did a heck of a job commanding our offense, getting his teammates involved when he needed to and looked to score when he needed.”

Bahhur also highlighted Richardson’s defensive efforts, noting, “Defensively, for his first taste of NBA minutes, he did a great job of matching physicality and battling.”
