Former Cleveland State wing Tristan Enaruna, who delivered a strong performance for the Cavaliers during Summer League play, is among the candidates being considered for the team’s remaining two-way contract spot.
Enaruna impressed with averages of 13.3 points per game and efficient shooting splits of .568 from the field, .429 from three-point range, and .500 from the free-throw line, as noted by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
Alongside Enaruna, the Cavaliers are also evaluating two-way forwards Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Luke Travers for this open roster position.
Fedor points out that one of the Cavaliers’ key objectives this offseason has been to bolster their defensive capabilities. This focus came in response to the team’s defensive struggles during their second-round playoff exit against the Indiana Pacers.
To that end, the front office made a strategic decision to prioritize retaining Sam Merrill over Ty Jerome.
The prevailing belief within the organization, as Fedor writes, is that Merrill, along with newly acquired players Lonzo Ball and Larry Nance Jr., will be able to hold their own defensively and remain integral parts of the rotation during the postseason, preventing them from being “played off the court.”
Victor Oladipo is among the players the Cavaliers are considering for an open roster spot: https://t.co/fqOE2xDtYv
