The Knicks have struggled to find consistency during Summer League play, finishing with a 1-3 record and producing uneven performances across the board – even from players already under contract, according to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.
Rookie guard Tyler Kolek, who came in with expectations as a steady floor leader, started off rough but managed to redeem himself at times by flashing some ability to create his own offense.
Still, Edwards notes that Kolek was too careless with the ball overall, a concerning trait for a player expected to serve as a primary decision-maker.
Meanwhile, both Pacome Dadiet and Kevin McCullar continued to have difficulty connecting from the perimeter, though they showed effectiveness when attacking the basket and getting into the paint.
The most encouraging showing came from second-round pick Mohamed Diawara, who stood out with his intriguing blend of physical attributes and ball-handling skills.
His strong performance may have boosted his stock within the organization and could put him in legitimate consideration for a two-way contract spot as the Knicks evaluate their developmental options.
