The Charlotte Hornets have signed forward Drew Peterson to a two-way contract, according to a report from Shams Charania.

Peterson, who won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2024, now joins the Hornets after spending parts of two seasons in Boston and their G League affiliate in Maine. The move reunites Peterson with Charles Lee, the Hornets’ new head coach, who previously worked with him during his time with the Celtics.

The 6-foot-8 forward originally entered the NBA during the 2023–24 season, signing with Boston in December 2023.

While Peterson appeared in just 25 NBA games over two seasons with limited minutes, he showcased consistent production in the G League. Last season, he averaged 18.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for the Maine Celtics, shooting 37.4 percent from beyond the arc.

His NBA role so far has been as a reserve, averaging 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game over his career.

Peterson joins the Hornets on a two-way deal, which allows him to split time between Charlotte and their G League affiliate while remaining eligible for up to 50 NBA games during the season.
