DaRon Holmes demonstrated consistent and deliberate improvement following a serious setback – tearing his right Achilles tendon during last year’s NBA Summer League.
According to Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, the young forward steadily worked his way back into basketball shape over the course of several months.
By December, Holmes had resumed a rigorous routine that included running and focused shooting sessions before games, often taking upwards of 200 three-point shots daily unless his trainers recommended rest.
Despite the initial optimism from his surgeon, who believed Holmes might be cleared for a return as early as March, the Denver Nuggets remained cautious and adhered to their original plan to sideline him for the entire season to ensure a full recovery.
Holmes’ resilience and maturity throughout the rehabilitation process left a strong impression on those around him.
Mitch Brown, his business manager, reflected on Holmes’ mental toughness and positive attitude: “I was met by a sense of determination and optimism on his part. It really struck me that his mentality as a 22-year-old kid was so strong, dealing with something like this.”
