Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry addressed the growing speculation surrounding veteran big man Al Horford potentially joining the team this offseason.
When asked Thursday about the possibility, Curry told reporters, “He’s a champion, great player. When…if, when all that stuff happens, I’ll talk about it,” according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
His measured response came amid reports that Golden State is interested in adding Horford should he decide to return for a 19th NBA season.
The Warriors view Horford as a strong fit for their system. Reportedly, Golden State feels optimistic about its chances if the 38-year-old center chooses to play again.
Team executives value Horford’s shooting, passing, and defensive awareness — qualities that align with the Warriors’ motion-heavy offense and defensive schemes. His ability to stretch the floor from the high post and anchor the paint could help stabilize a frontcourt that has lacked consistency over the past two seasons.
Horford, who has played 18 seasons with the Hawks, Celtics, 76ers, and Thunder, owns career averages of 12.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists across 1,138 regular-season games. He is a five-time All-Star and a 2024 NBA champion with Boston.
With free agency still unfolding and Horford yet to announce his decision, the Warriors remain among the top potential destinations if the big man opts to continue his career.
