The Milwaukee Bucks and guard Andre Jackson Jr. have reached an agreement to postpone the guarantee date on Jackson’s contract for the 2025–26 NBA season, according to a report by Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
Originally, Milwaukee faced a decision deadline this coming Monday to determine whether to fully guarantee Jackson’s salary for that season.
However, by agreeing to delay the guarantee date, Jackson provided the Bucks with additional roster-building flexibility during the offseason.
In return for his cooperation, Jackson received a partial guarantee on his $2.22 million salary for 2025–26 – effectively a bonus for his willingness to adjust the terms.
The exact dollar amount of that partial guarantee and the new date have not yet been publicly disclosed.
This move gives the Bucks more breathing room to make other personnel decisions while still keeping Jackson in the fold, at least for now.
While nothing is set in stone, it would be somewhat unexpected if the team decided to move on from him.
Jackson, a second-round pick out of UConn in the 2023 NBA Draft, played in 67 games during the 2024–25 season and started in 43 of them.
Though not a high-volume shooter, he made the most of his limited opportunities, converting 47.7% of his 2.9 field goal attempts per game.
Over an average of 14.6 minutes per contest, he contributed modest stats: 3.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
Jackson has proven to be a versatile rotation player, offering the ability to fill in at both guard positions as well as small forward.
He remains under contract through the 2026–27 season, with the final year being a team option – giving the Bucks long-term control and added value should he continue to develop.
