The Slovenian Basketball Federation has officially named Luka Doncic to its 19-man preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2025, confirming his expected return to international play this summer.

National team head coach Aleksander Sekulic announced the list ahead of training camp, which will begin on July 23. The squad features a mix of veteran contributors and rising prospects, including four players from Slovenia’s bronze-winning U19 team at the recent FIBA World Cup.

Doncic, 26, will be suiting up for the national team for the first time since the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The Los Angeles Lakers guard is coming off a high-profile NBA season in which he was traded midyear from the Dallas Mavericks and led the Lakers in the 2025 playoffs.

Slovenia will open its EuroBasket preparations with a camp on Rogla before moving to Ljubljana. The team has scheduled six warm-up games, including home contests against Germany on August 8 and Great Britain on August 19 in Ljubljana’s Stozice Arena.

The remaining preparation games feature away clashes against Germany (August 10), Lithuania (August 15), Latvia (August 16), and Serbia (August 21).

Sekulic emphasized that the final 12-man roster will be finalized just before the tournament begins. “We have a mix of youth and experience. The selection will be based on form and readiness,” he said in a statement released by the federation.

The full squad includes Miha Cerkvenik, Vlatko CanCar, Ziga Daneu, Luka Doncic, Zoran Dragic, Vit Hrabar, Gregor Hrovat, Robert Jurkovic, Martin Krampelj, Urban Kroflic, Edo Muric, Josh Nebo, Aleksej Nikolic, Mark Padjen, Klemen Prepelic, Rok Radovic, Zak Smrekar, Leon Stergar, and Luka Scuka.

Slovenia has been drawn into Group D for EuroBasket 2025 alongside France, Poland, Belgium, Israel, and Iceland. Group-stage games will be held in Katowice, Poland, from August 28 to September 4.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds in Riga, Latvia. Slovenia’s first game is scheduled for August 28 against host nation Poland.
