Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder have finalized terms on a four-year, $285 million supermax contract extension that will begin in the 2027-28 season.

Gilgeous-Alexander still has two seasons left on his current deal, but by agreeing to the extension now, he secures long-term financial stability and reaffirms his commitment to the Thunder’s championship core.

The All-NBA guard became eligible for the supermax extension, also known as the Designated Veteran Player Extension, after being named the league’s Most Valuable Player and leading Oklahoma City to the 2025 NBA championship, their first title since relocating from Seattle.

Although Gilgeous-Alexander could have waited until next offseason to sign a five-year version of the deal, he and his representation opted to lock in the four-year agreement immediately, prioritizing security and the opportunity to continue building a title-contending legacy in Oklahoma City.
