The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with free agent Luke Kennard on a one-year, $11 million contract, according to Shams Charania.

Kennard, 28, is coming off a season with Memphis in which he averaged 8.9 points per game while shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc. Over eight NBA seasons, he has established himself as one of the league’s most accurate perimeter shooters, with a career 3-point percentage of 43.8%.

The Hawks finished the 2024–25 regular season 40–42 and lost to Orlando in the final Eastern Conference Play-In game. Now the front office is reshaping its wing rotation around star guard Trae Young.

Sources told ESPN that Young was directly involved in the recruitment of Kennard, reaching out to the veteran shooter along with Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who also agreed to terms with Atlanta.

Kennard’s arrival adds one of the NBA’s most consistent floor-spacers to an offense that ranked sixth in scoring last season at 118.2 points per game. He will bring both experience and elite efficiency to a team that shot just 36.2% from deep as a group.

His best stretch came during the 2022–23 campaign, when he shot 54% from three after being traded midseason from the Clippers to the Grizzlies. That performance ranked among the top marks in league history for players with at least four attempts per game.

Despite a slight dip in scoring last year, the Ohio native maintained his shooting value and showed improved playmaking, averaging 3.3 assists in under 23 minutes per game.
