Nickeil Alexander-Walker has agreed to sign a four-year, $62 million contract with the Atlanta Hawks, according to multiple sources. The deal includes both a player option and a trade kicker, signaling a strong commitment from both sides.
The Hawks are acquiring Alexander-Walker via their $25.3 million traded player exception generated in last year’s Dejounte Murray trade, allowing them to absorb his salary without needing to send matching contracts in return.
Minnesota will receive a 2027 second-round pick via the Cleveland Cavaliers and cash considerations in the transaction.
Alexander-Walker, represented by Aaron Mintz, arrives in Atlanta after a breakout run with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he earned recognition as one of the league’s premier two-way guards.
Known for his defensive versatility and improved efficiency, Alexander-Walker played all 82 games last season and averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 25.3 minutes per game.
In Atlanta, he is expected to slot seamlessly into the rotation alongside Trae Young and Dyson Daniels, giving the Hawks another reliable perimeter defender and secondary ballhandler.
His ability to play both on and off the ball should complement the Hawks’ existing backcourt and provide depth on both ends of the floor.
