The Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement to bring back free agent guard Gary Trent Jr. on a two-year, $7.5 million contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The deal includes a player option for the second season, giving Trent the flexibility to re-enter free agency next summer when more teams are projected to have cap space.
Milwaukee prioritized retaining Trent following a strong season in which he became a critical part of their backcourt rotation. He averaged 11.1 points per game while shooting 41.2 percent from three-point range over 74 appearances in 2024-25.
The 26-year-old initially joined the Bucks ahead of last season after spending three and a half years with the Toronto Raptors. He quickly earned minutes off the bench due to his perimeter shooting and improved defensive activity.
Trent elevated his impact during the postseason, starting three games and putting up 18.8 points per contest on 51.6 percent shooting, including a 50 percent clip from beyond the arc.
The former Duke standout has developed into one of the league’s most consistent high-volume three-point threats. Across seven seasons with Portland, Toronto, and Milwaukee, he has converted 39.1 percent of his attempts from long range.
Milwaukee finished the 2024-25 regular season 48-34, securing the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference before being eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the first round in five games.
