The Sacramento Kings have decided to pick up the $1.9 million team option for forward/center Isaac Jones for the upcoming season.
This move comes after Jones was promoted from his two-way contract late in March of last year, officially adding him to the Kings’ standard roster.
During the previous season, Jones appeared in a total of 40 NBA games. Although his playing time was limited, averaging just 7.6 minutes per contest, he showed promise as a young big man with growth potential.
In addition to his NBA appearances, Jones spent time in the G League, where he received significantly more minutes and was able to showcase his skills.
Over 16 games in the G League, the 6-foot-9 center posted impressive statistics, averaging 21.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.
These strong performances at the developmental level highlighted his ability to contribute effectively on both ends of the court, suggesting that he could carve out a larger role for himself moving forward.
By exercising Jones’s team option, the Kings are signaling their interest in further developing the young player within their system, providing him with the opportunity to compete for more minutes in the NBA next season.
