The Sacramento Kings were not satisfied with their current roster, as they sought players who could fill their gaps to help them win games.

The franchise was finalizing a deal to land free agent center Precious Achiuwa, while potentially compromising their young center Isaac Jones for a spot, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

There were rumors that the Kings showed interest in Achiuwa on Monday, but a deal was quickly agreed upon.

Charania also noted that to sign Achiuwa, they would have to give up a spot by waiving or trading, since they were already at the maximum of 15 standard contracts.

The 25-year-old Jones has played for a total of 17 minutes through the first seven games of the season, where expectations were high for him, but he has not met the Kings’ expectations.

While Achiuwa is one year older than Jones, he played for the New York Knicks last season, averaging 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game.
