The Charlotte Hornets have appointed Patrick Chasse as their new Vice President of Medical and Performance, according to reporting from Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.

This move signals a significant addition to the franchise’s health and performance department as they aim to bolster player care and injury prevention strategies.

Chasse brings extensive experience to the role, having spent the past five seasons with the Boston Celtics, where he most recently served as the team’s head athletic trainer and physical therapist.

His familiarity with Hornets head coach Charles Lee, who was an assistant coach in Boston during Chasse’s tenure, likely played a role in the hire, given their prior working relationship.

Chasse’s arrival comes alongside an internal shift: Trent Salo, who was initially hired as the head of the Hornets’ medical and performance team in July of last year, has transitioned into a consultant role with the organization.

This change appears to reflect Charlotte’s desire to reset and reinforce its approach to player health as the team looks to build long-term success.
