Charlotte Hornets guard Tre Mann, a restricted free agent this offseason, has fully recovered from a herniated disc in his back and is once again participating in all team activities, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
After being limited to just 13 games last season due to the injury, Mann is now back to full strength and has been actively involved in the Hornets’ offseason workouts, including full-court 5-on-5 scrimmages.
The Hornets currently hold the player’s Bird rights, giving them a significant advantage in retaining him.
However, to make Mann a restricted free agent, the team must extend a qualifying offer worth $6.96 million in the coming days.
If they decline to do so, the guard would become an unrestricted free agent and could sign freely with any team, leaving Charlotte with no right to match competing offers.
Following the conclusion of the 2024–25 season, new Hornets head coach Charles Lee spoke highly of Mann’s character, leadership, and skill set, emphasizing his value both on and off the court:
“Tre, he’s a phenomenal player, even better teammate and person,” Lee said. “He’s just such a great talent. So, to miss him out there and [miss] his skill set was definitely unfortunate. But also, to just have him around on the court, vocally or at practice or teaching guys – because he does have such a high basketball IQ. But, yeah, I think he brings so much value. It’ll be nice to have him back in the mix hopefully next year.”
Despite limited appearances last season, Mann is currently ranked No. 49 on Hoops Rumors’ list of the top 50 free agents for 2025.
Analysts note, however, that if his health holds and he regains form, he could significantly outperform that projection in the coming year.
