Milwaukee Bucks wing Pat Connaughton has opted into the final year of his contract, exercising his $9.4 million player option for the 2024–25 NBA season.
This upcoming season marks the conclusion of the three-year extension he signed with the franchise back in 2022.
Now 32 years old, Connaughton has been a consistent presence in Milwaukee since arriving in 2018, known for his versatility, energy, and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor.
However, his role diminished noticeably last season. He appeared in just 41 games, his fewest in a Bucks uniform, and averaged 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per contest.
It was the first time during his Bucks tenure that he fell out of the team’s regular rotation.
Despite the drop in playing time, Connaughton’s decision to opt in provides the Bucks with a familiar veteran presence as they evaluate their roster heading into the 2025 offseason.
His experience and locker room leadership may still prove valuable, particularly for a team navigating changes and striving to maximize its window of opportunity for a championship.
