Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton is preparing to opt into the final year of his contract, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

In a report published on his Substack, Stein wrote that league sources expect the 32-year-old to pick up his $9.4 million player option for the 2025–26 season. Connaughton has until June 24 to officially notify the team.

Connaughton completed the second year of a three-year, $28 million deal this past season. He played 41 games for Milwaukee in 2024–25, averaging 5.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 14.7 minutes per contest.

His shooting splits included 46.9 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from three-point range. In the playoffs, he saw limited action, logging just 4.7 minutes per game across three appearances in the Bucks’ first-round loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Milwaukee finished the regular season with a 48–34 record, securing the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. However, their postseason run ended quickly with a 4–1 defeat to Indiana, marking the second straight year the Pacers eliminated them in the opening round.

Connaughton has been with the organization since 2018 and was a key contributor during the team’s championship run in 2021.
