Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas recently returned to his roots, visiting a local news station in his hometown of Chesapeake, Virginia.

During the interview, the conversation turned to his upcoming restricted free agency – a pivotal moment in his young career. Thomas didn’t shy away from expressing where his heart lies.

“I definitely, definitely want to be back in Brooklyn. It’s definitely home for me,” Thomas said, emphasizing his connection to the franchise.

“Being drafted there you definitely build bonds with a lot of people there. So, I definitely love it there. But at the same time, you have to do what’s best for you in the business aspects. So, I have to play that by ear, but I definitely want to be back for sure. I definitely love Brooklyn.”

Thomas, who will enter restricted free agency this offseason, remains a central figure in the Nets’ future.

As the only team projected to have meaningful cap space this summer, Brooklyn is in a strong position to retain him without much outside competition – there’s little realistic threat of another franchise extending him a sizable offer sheet.

Coming off a breakout season in which he averaged 24.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, Thomas has established himself as a rising scorer and a cornerstone piece for the Nets.

While business decisions will inevitably come into play, his comments made it clear that a return to Brooklyn is his preferred outcome.
