Following Memphis’s major acquisition of numerous future draft picks from Orlando in exchange for Desmond Bane, Brian Lewis from The New York Post examines how this development might influence the Nets’ potential return if they decide to trade Cameron Johnson.

Johnson, who is 29 years old, is known as a reliable two-way player. While he has never been selected as an All-Star, he remains in his athletic prime.

Standing 6 feet 8 inches tall, Johnson proved himself as a starter on a strong Suns team before being traded to Brooklyn. Last season, he played 57 games for the Nets without injury, averaging 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

His shooting efficiency was solid, with percentages of 47.5% from the field, 39% from three-point range, and 89.3% from the free-throw line.

According to Lewis, although Johnson does not match Bane in passing or rebounding abilities and is three years older than the Magic’s newest player, their scoring and shooting stats from last season are quite comparable.

Additionally, Johnson’s contract is more favorable for the team financially – he is set to earn $44 million over the next two years, whereas Bane’s deal totals $163 million over four years.

Sources within the NBA have repeatedly told Lewis to expect a very active offseason in 2025, with Brooklyn likely playing a major role in trade discussions and transactions.
