Basketball operations in Israel have come to a standstill amid intensifying conflict with Iran, according to Alessandro Maggi of Sportando.

The country’s premier basketball league, which was in the middle of its championship series between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Jerusalem, has officially suspended the season without crowning a winner.

The suspension leaves the Israeli league’s outcome unresolved and casts uncertainty over international competition as well.

With the FIBA U19 World Cup set to begin in Switzerland later this month, it remains unclear whether Israel will be able to field a team given the ongoing security concerns and travel complications stemming from the conflict.

This disruption marks a significant setback for Israeli basketball at both the domestic and international levels, impacting not only professional clubs but also the national program’s youth development.

The situation continues to evolve, and further decisions will depend on geopolitical developments in the coming weeks.
