Kevin Durant has named the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets as his preferred trade destinations, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
The 15-time All-Star remains under contract with the Phoenix Suns through the 2025–26 season, but the franchise is actively engaged in trade talks with several teams. Durant is reportedly open to committing long-term to any of the three franchises he listed.
The Suns missed the postseason after a 36–46 campaign, finishing 11th in the Western Conference. Following their disappointing year, the team parted ways with head coach Mike Budenholzer and signaled a willingness to restructure its roster.
Charania, speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, indicated that trade discussions have accelerated, and a deal could be completed within days. Multiple outlets have confirmed Phoenix is targeting a resolution ahead of the June 25 NBA Draft.
Despite interest from at least six to eight teams, the Suns are prioritizing the best overall package, not just Durant’s preferences. New York is reportedly not among the suitors.
Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 75 games this season. His performance remained elite, but the Suns struggled defensively and lacked bench depth.
Houston is considered one of the most attractive options. The Rockets finished second in the West with a 52–30 record and are looking to pair their young core with a proven veteran.
San Antonio, which closed the season at 34–48, offers a long-term upside with Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. The Spurs also have ample cap flexibility and multiple future picks.
Miami barely clinched the East’s final play-in spot at 37–45 and is actively pursuing roster upgrades. The Heat front office has explored star acquisitions since the trade deadline.
Minnesota has also engaged with Phoenix, despite not being on Durant’s preferred list. The Timberwolves, who won 49 games, view the former MVP as a potential difference-maker in the Western Conference.
Toronto remains a dark horse, with the Raptors possessing high-end prospects and draft capital that could appeal to the Suns. However, there’s no indication Durant would sign long-term with the franchise.
Durant, 36, is set to earn $54.7 million in 2025–26. Phoenix’s front office is reportedly looking for a combination of young players, expiring contracts, and draft assets in return.
