The Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) has suspended DeMarcus Cousins for the rest of the 2025 season following a confrontation during Monday’s game between the Mets de Guaynabo and the Vaqueros de Bayamón.
Cousins received a $4,250 fine tied to a disqualifying foul, a technical foul, and acts inciting violence or provocation. He must also provide cause to avoid an additional $5,750 fine, which could bring total penalties to $10,000.
The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter after Cousins was ejected for two technical fouls amid physical exchanges on the court. Upon leaving, he engaged with fans, which led to drinks and objects being thrown at him.
In response, Cousins attempted to confront those fans but was stopped by security and team staff. No injuries were reported, but the altercation caused a temporary stoppage of the game.
The Vaqueros de Bayamón were also sanctioned due to fan behavior. A spectator who entered the court and provoked violence was suspended for the season. The team must identify and ban additional disruptive fans from attending home games.
The league ordered permanent security in the area where the incident occurred. The Vaqueros must submit a corrective plan to ensure compliance and avoid further penalties.
If another fan aggression incident occurs, the Vaqueros risk having their home court closed and being forced to play at an alternate venue.
In the game, Bayamón defeated Guaynabo 101–91. Chris Duarte and Scotty Thompson Jr. combined for 51 points, with Thompson scoring a game-high 30 points and hitting seven three-pointers off the bench.
Cousins finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists before his ejection. Mets captain Jaysean Paige scored 20 points, and Ysmael Romero added 17.
