Despite weeks of speculation, there is no active trade market for Giannis Antetokounmpo at this time, according to multiple league insiders.
On ESPN’s Get Up, Brian Windhorst reported that the Milwaukee Bucks have not engaged in any trade discussions involving Antetokounmpo. The two-time MVP has also not requested a trade.
“There is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him,” Windhorst said.
Trade rumors around the Bucks star intensified after Milwaukee was eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. The Bucks finished the regular season 48–34 and had captured the NBA Cup in December.
Although the playoff exit triggered speculation about a potential reset, league sentiment has cooled. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, front offices that once expected Antetokounmpo to become available are now skeptical.
The Bucks’ midseason trade of Khris Middleton to Washington raised questions about the franchise’s long-term plan. Veteran reporter Marc Stein recently noted that the organization may retool around Antetokounmpo instead of contending next season, potentially using 2025–26 as a gap year.
Meanwhile, teams like the Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors have been monitoring the situation. Houston, fresh off a 52–30 season and playoff return, has the draft capital and young core to make a competitive offer.
Toronto, which missed the postseason, has been linked to Antetokounmpo with reports of mutual interest. However, those discussions have not advanced and are viewed as speculative unless Milwaukee changes its stance.
Antetokounmpo is under contract through the 2026–27 season, with a player option for 2027–28. This year, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists while shooting 60.1 percent from the field.
