Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla, along with several key members of the team’s front office, recently traveled to Türkiye to scout a high-profile Turkish League semifinal game between Fenerbahce and Bahcesehir.
While the trip offered a look at multiple players, the Celtics appeared to be particularly focused on Fenerbahce forward Nigel Hayes-Davis.
Hayes-Davis contributed 10 points and seven rebounds in Fenerbahce’s series-clinching win, helping his team secure a 3-0 sweep and a spot in the league finals.
This solid showing came shortly after he was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2025 EuroLeague Final Four, a testament to his high-level impact on the European stage.
Now concluding his third season with Fenerbahce and his seventh straight year competing overseas, Hayes-Davis is once again drawing interest from NBA teams, including the Celtics.
Boston has reportedly kept tabs on the 30-year-old forward in past offseasons, but previously couldn’t promise him a meaningful role in their rotation.
However, with potential roster changes on the horizon for the 2025-26 season, the door may now be open for a player like Hayes-Davis to find a spot in Boston’s lineup.
The 6-foot-8 forward, a former Wisconsin Badger, posted impressive numbers this past season across all competitions, averaging 15.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
He also showcased strong efficiency, recording shooting splits of 47% from the field, 39% from three-point range, and 88% from the free-throw line.
As Boston looks to fine-tune its roster to maintain championship contention, Hayes-Davis could represent a low-risk, high-reward addition, offering experience, versatility, and a proven track record at the highest levels of European basketball.
