To restore the depth that once fueled their championship run, the Denver Nuggets are aiming to retool their roster following the departure of several key contributors over recent seasons.

The loss of impactful players such as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency has left noticeable gaps, and some recent acquisitions, including Reggie Jackson and Dario Saric, have not panned out as hoped, further emphasizing the need for strategic additions.

Bennett Durando of the Denver Post recently explored some of the potential free-agent targets the Nuggets might pursue as they look to re-establish themselves as a serious contender in the Western Conference.

His analysis highlights several players who could fill critical roles on a roster that, while still led by stars like Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, needs a stronger supporting cast.

Among the names Durando highlights is a familiar face in Denver: Bruce Brown. Brown was a key piece of the Nuggets’ 2023 title team but departed shortly after, signing a lucrative two-year contract with the Indiana Pacers.

His time with Indiana was short-lived, as he was later included in the trade that brought Pascal Siakam to the Pacers, which sent Brown to Toronto.

He finished the 2024–25 season with a stint in New Orleans, though injuries limited him to just 41 games. Despite his recent struggles, Brown remains popular among the Denver fan base.

Durando notes that Brown appeared to express support for the Nuggets’ recent hiring of David Adelman as head coach via social media, an indication that a reunion could be in the cards, especially given rumored mutual interest between the two sides.

Another potential target Durando points to is Chris Boucher, who the Nuggets reportedly considered acquiring at this season’s trade deadline.

Boucher, a versatile big man, averaged 10 points in just 17 minutes per game for the Toronto Raptors this year, while knocking down 36% of his three-point attempts.

His ability to stretch the floor and provide energy off the bench could make him an ideal candidate to bolster Denver’s frontcourt rotation, particularly at backup center. In this role, the team has been lacking consistent production.

As the offseason approaches, the Nuggets’ front office will be under pressure to make savvy moves that address both talent and fit, with the hope of reclaiming their place among the NBA’s elite.
