Chicago Bulls big man Pau Gasol has revealed that he will opt out of his current contract and become a free agent on July 1.

In an interview with Marca, the Spanish international, who has averaged 16.9 points and 10.9 rebounds a game with the Bulls made his feelings known that he wants to stay in Chicago and re-sign with the Playoff contenders.

“I don’t like to talk about my future because it distract me from the present,” Gasol said. “We will see what happens. The Bulls’ door is open because I will opt out and become a free agent, and Chicago will be always my first option.”

The 14-year veteran joined the Bulls in 2014 after a successful six-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won two NBA titles.
