In a season where positives were few and far between for the Philadelphia 76ers, undrafted rookie forward Justin Edwards emerged as a rare bright spot.
Initially signed to a two-way contract, Edwards exceeded expectations with his steady production and adaptability, ultimately earning a conversion to a standard NBA deal.
Throughout 44 games – including 26 starts – he averaged a solid 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, providing much-needed energy and consistency on both ends of the floor.
Now, the Sixers hold a $2 million team option on his contract for next season, a relatively modest price tag given his promising performance.
As Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer notes, Edwards has put himself in a strong position to be part of the franchise’s long-term plans, especially as the team seeks to build depth and develop young talent.
Reflecting on his unexpected rise, Edwards said: “I was able to get an opportunity early. I just made the best out of the opportunity, and it all worked out for me.”
His humble, hard-working approach and on-court results suggest he may have secured more than just a roster spot – he may have found a home in Philadelphia’s future.
