The Sacramento Kings are moving forward with Doug Christie as their permanent head coach, with both sides finalizing terms on a multi-year deal, according to recent reports.

Christie, a longtime member of the Kings organization both as a player and assistant coach, took over in December on an interim basis following the dismissal of Mike Brown. His promotion to full-time head coach signals the franchise’s confidence in his leadership and ability to guide the team through a pivotal phase of its development.

Christie’s appointment is one of several major decisions for the Kings this offseason. In a notable front office shake-up, general manager Monte McNair and the team mutually agreed to part ways, and veteran executive Scott Perry has been brought in to take over basketball operations.

Perry brings experience from prior stints with the Knicks and Pistons and will now be tasked with helping reshape the Kings into a more consistent contender.

After Christie stepped in midseason, Sacramento initially saw a strong bounce under his leadership, showing renewed energy and focus. However, the momentum didn’t fully carry through the remainder of the season.

The Kings ultimately finished ninth in the Western Conference standings and were eliminated in the Play-In Tournament by the Dallas Mavericks, cutting their postseason run short.

Despite the disappointing ending, the organization appears encouraged by Christie’s potential and leadership qualities, hoping that with a full offseason to implement his system and work with Perry, the Kings can take another step forward in the competitive West.
