Amazon is making a significant push into NBA broadcasting as it prepares to take on a portion of the league’s media rights, and it’s assembling a high-profile team of talent to anchor its coverage.
Among the key hires is veteran coach and longtime broadcaster Stan Van Gundy, who will serve as a game analyst.
Van Gundy, known for his insightful commentary and sharp basketball mind, will be paired with acclaimed play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle, who has been named Amazon’s lead voice for its NBA coverage.
In its efforts to build a dynamic and engaging broadcast team, Amazon is reportedly also pursuing other big names in basketball media.
According to recent reports, Richard Jefferson – currently a key analyst on ESPN’s top broadcast team alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke – is on Amazon’s radar for a potential analyst role.
Additionally, former NBA stars Dwyane Wade and Steve Nash are being considered for similar roles, indicating Amazon’s intention to blend both on-court experience and media savvy in its game coverage.
Beyond game commentary, Amazon is also assembling a lineup for its studio programming. Taylor Rooks, known for her strong interviews and presence across sports media, will headline pregame and postgame coverage.
She’ll be joined by NBA legends Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin, bringing star power and personality to Amazon’s studio segments.
