There was some talk before the trade deadline that the Sacramento Kings might consider moving DeMar DeRozan, but ultimately he remained with the team along with most of Sacramento’s veteran players.

Recently, DeRozan has been playing at a high level offensively, highlighted by a season-best 41-point performance on Sunday.

Head coach Doug Christie said he values DeRozan’s presence as a steady offensive option, Anderson adds.

“He’s like a comfy blanket,” Christie said. “It doesn’t surprise me. You watch him go about his business, you watch him work and then you see him play, it’s the same thing.”

Christie also reiterated before Sunday’s game that he does not support the idea of tanking.

Speaking during a pre-game press conference, which NBC Sports Bay Area shared, the coach explained that deliberately losing games can harm the development of younger players.

Christie also cited last season as an example, noting that Dallas won the draft lottery despite beating Sacramento in the play-in tournament.
