Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo’s offensive game continues to evolve, and one of the most noticeable developments this season, especially in the playoffs, has been his increased willingness to shoot from beyond the arc.
Known primarily for his interior presence and mid-range touch, Adebayo has expanded his range in the postseason, taking 17 three-point attempts over the first three games and connecting on six of them.
That marks a clear step forward in confidence and volume compared to previous seasons, when he was far more hesitant to launch from deep.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra praised Adebayo’s ability to strike the right balance between his traditional strengths and his growing perimeter game.
“He has good balance about it, of being rugged and aggressive at the rim and in the paint, because we need that as well … he’s a very good shooter,” Spoelstra told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Adebayo has played 8 seasons for the Heat. He has averaged 15.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 567 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games.
