According to ESPN, the Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler has been diagnosed with a contusion to a deep gluteal muscle, as confirmed by the results of an MRI conducted after Game 2.
The injury occurred during the first half of the game, forcing Butler to exit early and raising concerns about his ability to continue in the series.
As of now, Butler’s availability for Game 3, where the Golden State Warriors are set to face off against the Houston Rockets, is highly uncertain.
His chances of suiting up appear slim, although there is some relief in the medical findings: the MRI did not reveal any fractures or significant structural damage, which indicates that the injury, while painful, is not as severe as initially feared.
The series between the Warriors and Rockets is currently deadlocked at one game apiece in this opening round of the playoffs, making Butler’s potential absence in Game 3 all the more impactful as both teams vie for the upper hand.
