After a scary on-court moment left Grizzlies wing Jaylen Wells with a broken right wrist, Hornets guard KJ Simpson issued a heartfelt apology on social media, expressing deep remorse for the incident and offering support to Wells and his family.

The injury occurred when Simpson committed a Flagrant 2 foul, striking Wells while he was airborne during a dunk attempt.

Wells fell hard and had to be carried off the court on a stretcher, with the extent of the injury later confirmed as a fractured wrist.

Simpson was ejected from the game following a video review.

Taking to Twitter shortly after, Simpson posted a sincere message to Wells, emphasizing that the play was unintentional and that he felt devastated by the outcome.

My prayers are with @jaylen_wells,” Simpson wrote. “I know we already spoke and are good friends bro, but again I just wanted to express not only to J but to his family as well how deeply sorry I am. I would never purposely do that to anyone. I’m just extremely sorry.”

Simpson also spoke highly of Wells’ character and potential, describing him as both a standout talent and a quality human being.

Especially with the talent J is,” Simpson continued, “I know he’s gonna be special and just from the many times our paths have crossed I’m blessed to know he’s an even better person with an amazing story. I just wanted to again say sorry to J and his family. I can’t say it enough.

Wells responded with grace, accepting the apology and reinforcing their mutual respect.

Much love brother. Thank you,” he replied via Twitter.
