Tidjane Salaün, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is nearing the end of his first season with the Charlotte Hornets, and while the 19-year-old French forward has experienced his share of growing pains, signs of progress are emerging.
As noted by Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer, Salaün’s rookie campaign has been marked by inconsistent shooting and efficiency struggles, but over the past month, he’s looked more confident and productive on the court.
His defensive intensity has improved, and he’s begun to show flashes of the two-way potential that made him a lottery pick.
Looking ahead to the off-season, Salaün says he’s committed to becoming a more well-rounded and impactful player.
“I would like to continue to develop some winning habits,” Salaün said. “Get faster on defense, keep blocking out the player and on offense, play my game, try to develop my ball-handling, some good passes and keep the game simple. And be the most efficient. That’s it.”
Salaün has played 1 season for the Hornets. He has averaged 5.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in 57 regular-season games.
