Mitchell Robinson’s return from ankle and foot injuries has had a significant positive effect on the New York Knicks’ defense, as noted by both Robinson and his teammates, including Josh Hart.
According to Ian Begley and the team, the Knicks’ defense improved notably, with the team posting its best defensive rating of the season in March, ranking sixth overall.
Robinson’s presence in the paint has been a game-changer, as he has provided the Knicks with the much-needed rim protection and disruptive defensive play that had been missing during his absence.
Josh Hart specifically highlighted Robinson’s contributions, noting how the big man has been a force on defense.
“The last month and a half, he’s been a monster defensively,” Hart said. “Blowing up screens, blowing up handoffs, like a free safety on that backside.”
Robinson’s ability to guard the rim, disrupt plays, and clean up on defense has been instrumental in the team’s defensive surge, helping elevate the Knicks’ overall performance as they prepare for the final stretch of the season.
