Goodwin has become a key contributor off the bench for head coach JJ Redick, averaging 6.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 20.5 minutes per game. He is shooting 41% from beyond the arc and has provided defensive energy, grabbing at least one offensive rebound in 18 of his 19 games played.
The Lakers’ decision to keep Goodwin ensures he will be eligible for the playoffs. His hustle and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor have made him a valuable piece in the rotation, especially with the team looking to solidify its position in the Western Conference standings.
Reddish, on the other hand, struggled to find his rhythm this season. In 33 games, he averaged a career-low 3.2 points and 2 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per contest. The 25-year-old had been in and out of the rotation due to inconsistent play and injuries.
The move signals the Lakers’ commitment to players who can make an impact in the final stretch of the season. With a 44-28 record, Los Angeles currently sits fourth in the Western Conference and is looking to gain momentum before the playoffs begin.
