Deni Avdija has emerged as a key factor in the Portland Trail Blazers’ unexpected push for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Not only is he scoring at a career-high rate of 15.9 points per game, but he is also showcasing his versatility by facilitating the offense.
Over the last six games, he has averaged 5.7 assists, demonstrating his ability to push the ball in transition and create opportunities for his teammates.
Head coach Chauncey Billups has taken note of Avdija’s evolving skill set, particularly his improved court vision and decision-making.
“His playmaking is getting better,” Billups observed. “He actually cares about playmaking. He’s learning and learning and learning about his guys. They’re learning him.”
Avdija has played 5 seasons for the Wizards and Trail Blazers. He has averaged 11.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 352 regular-season games.
