Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija is experiencing the most impressive scoring stretch of his NBA career, according to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian.
Avdija delivered a season-best 36-point performance in Friday’s victory over Denver, bringing his total to an impressive 162 points across his last six games.
While he was already a capable offensive contributor during his first four seasons with the Washington Wizards, his production has surged since his trade to Portland last summer, allowing him to showcase his full potential.
Reflecting on his recent success, Avdija acknowledged that this level of play feels new, even though he always believed he had it in him. “I don’t think I’ve played like this before,” he admitted.
“I think I knew I had it in me. But I’m not really thinking about it. I’m just playing. I’m just free. I love playing around the guys. I love making plays. I love being on the court with our team, regardless of how I score or how much I score.”
Avdija has played 5 seasons for the Wizards and Trail Blazers. He has averaged 11.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 352 regular-season games.
