Bill Chisholm, the new majority owner of the Boston Celtics, has made it clear that his focus is on winning and extending the team’s championship window.

Speaking to ESPN, Chisholm emphasized his commitment to the franchise’s storied legacy. “The team is in a great place right now, and I’m very sensitive to that,” he said, via Shams Charania. “Wyc, Brad (Stevens), and Joe (Mazzulla) have done amazing jobs… My approach is to win and raise banners. That’s in the near term and the long term.”

Chisholm finalized his purchase of the Celtics in a record-breaking $6.1 billion deal, making it the most expensive sale of a North American sports franchise.

A Massachusetts native and lifelong Celtics fan, he expressed deep personal ties to the team, stating, “I bleed green. I love the Celtics. When the opportunity came up, I couldn’t pass it up.”

Chisholm is taking over from Wyc Grousbeck, who led the franchise for over two decades and oversaw the team’s 2024 NBA championship victory.

Boston currently holds the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 50-19 record, trailing only the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With Chisholm now at the helm, the Celtics aim to build on their recent success and add to their record 18 NBA championships.
