New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet suffered a dislocated shoulder during the preseason and was faced with a difficult choice – undergo season-ending surgery or commit to an intensive rehabilitation process.

Opting for the latter, the Knicks guard dedicated himself to recovery, a decision that is now proving beneficial, as noted by Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

Despite being waived in October, Shamet returned to the team in December and has since carved out a consistent role, taking advantage of increased opportunities due to injuries in the roster.

His perseverance was on display Monday when he delivered a season-high 13-point performance against Sacramento.

“Yeah, knock on wood. I’m in a good spot,” the player said. “I attacked the rehab, took it very seriously. Frankly, that’s not much of a thought I have. I feel good, I’m in a good spot.”

Shamet has played 7 seasons for 6 teams, including the Suns and Clippers. He has averaged 8.3 points in 374 regular-season games.
