While Marc Stein of The Stein Line cannot confirm whether Mike Budenholzer’s position as head coach of the Phoenix Suns is actually in danger, he notes that the topic has sparked “heightened whispering and curiosity” within coaching circles.
The Suns made notable coaching changes recently, parting ways with Monty Williams in 2023 despite having three years and over $20 million left on his contract.
Additionally, they let go of Frank Vogel in 2024 after just one season into his five-year, $31 million deal.
Budenholzer, who was hired by Phoenix in May, reportedly signed a five-year contract worth more than $50 million.
However, despite the high expectations surrounding him, the Suns have struggled this season, currently sitting at a 28-33 record and trailing by four games behind the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
