The Charlotte Hornets are upgrading Moussa Diabate to a three-year standard NBA contract after his impressive performances on a two-way deal this season.

The move comes in the aftermath of Charlotte’s rescinded trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, which created an open roster spot.

Diabate, who has outperformed the limitations of his two-way contract, will now fill that vacancy. Over 42 games, including five starts, the 6-foot-10 forward has averaged 4.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 19 minutes per game.

With his eligibility for NBA games nearly maxed out – as two-way players are capped at 50 appearances per season – this promotion ensures he remains a key contributor for the Hornets moving forward.
