The Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to four games, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 112-107 on Monday night. Anthony Davis delivered a dominant performance with 42 points and 23 rebounds, leading the Lakers to a 26-18 record.
Davis wasted no time asserting himself, scoring 21 points in the first quarter alone as Los Angeles built a commanding 39-19 lead. The All-Star center shot 9-of-12 in the opening period and added 11 rebounds, setting the tone for a wire-to-wire victory.
LeBron James contributed 22 points and eight assists, while Austin Reaves added 17 points for the Lakers. Los Angeles started hot, making 14 of their first 16 shots, and maintained control throughout the game despite a late push from the Hornets.
Charlotte, now 12-31, saw Miles Bridges score a team-high 26 points in the loss. Josh Okogie came off the bench to add 19 points, while Mark Williams struggled defensively against Davis, managing 11 points and eight rebounds.
The game took a somber turn for the Hornets when LaMelo Ball exited in the second quarter with a left ankle injury. Ball, who has missed significant time throughout his career due to injuries, stepped on Jarred Vanderbilt’s foot while retreating after a three-pointer. He did not return to the game.
Davis remained nearly unstoppable throughout the contest, scoring efficiently in the paint and converting fadeaway jumpers over defenders. The Lakers’ big man also played a key role defensively, recording two blocks and controlling the boards with eight offensive rebounds.
The Hornets’ comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, where they outscored the Lakers 30-26, fell short. A balanced offensive effort from Los Angeles and timely free throws secured the victory.
