The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominant 110-91 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. The Eastern Conference leaders extended their winning streak against Detroit to 11 games and improved their home record to 22-3 this season.
Darius Garland led Cleveland with 22 points and seven assists, while Donovan Mitchell added 21 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 at the free-throw line. Jarrett Allen contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Evan Mobley grabbed 14 boards to anchor the Cavaliers’ defense.
Cleveland’s defense stifled Detroit’s offense, holding the Pistons to just 38.5% shooting from the field. Cade Cunningham managed a team-high 22 points for Detroit, while Malik Beasley chipped in 19 points off the bench. Jalen Duren posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, but the Pistons’ starting forwards combined for only two points.
The Cavaliers struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 27.3% on 12-of-44 attempts, but compensated with strong interior play and a 53-45 rebounding advantage. Despite missing Caris LeVert, Isaac Okoro, and Dean Wade due to injuries, Cleveland displayed improved intensity after a rough stretch last week.
Detroit’s offensive woes were evident throughout the game. Tobias Harris and Ausar Thompson combined to shoot 1-of-15 from the field, and the team managed just 10-of-36 from three-point range. The Pistons fell to 23-23 on the season.
Cleveland capitalized on its depth, with Ty Jerome scoring 15 points off the bench and Sam Merrill adding eight.
With this victory, Cleveland improved to 37-9, solidifying their hold on the top spot in the East.
